September 2024 Monthly Meeting

  • Standalone Farm Wilbury Road Letchworth Garden City, England, SG6 United Kingdom (map)

Space Propulsion

Bob Baldwin C Eng, M I Mech E

Airbus Engineering Manager and Spacecraft Propulsion Engineer

Bob is our resident space engineer and longstanding member of the society.

He is extremely well qualified and experienced to talk to us on all aspects of space propulsion, an often overlooked but vital part of spacecraft.

Bob will cover the basics of flight propulsion illustrated by the many spacecraft missions he has worked on at his lengthy carrier at Airbus.

As we announced at the July meeting, one of our longest serving members has sadly been diagnosed with a form of motor neuron disease (MND). He has very generously asked that his extensive astronomical book collection be offered to society members first as he would like them to got to people who likely to read and use them. There are 495 astronomy books covering every aspect of astronomy from beginners to advanced.

The committee has decided to offer the collection to members after the talk and ask that members make an appropriate donations to MND research. We will have a donation bucket for cash donations available but for card donations we trust members to do this once they get home.

£2 for members and £3 for visitors.

This is a physical meeting held at Standalone Farm but it will also be available on Zoom.

Please purchase your ticket via MemberMojo to receive the Zoom link if you wish to view from home.
